On Friday, August 21, 2026, Melanie Rae shared Sitting in the Chair: When Something Didn’t Feel Right — How I Learned to Speak Up with more than 100 attendees at the Creative Getaway Retreat in Helen, Georgia.
During the special author presentation, Melanie read selections from Sitting in the Chair and shared some of the real-life stories behind the book—stories about caregiving, advocacy, trusting your instincts, and learning to speak up when something doesn’t feel right.
Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book, have their books personally inscribed, and spend time talking with Melanie about their own experiences.
The event marked one of Melanie Rae’s first opportunities to share Sitting in the Chair with a large audience following its August 2026 release—and an especially meaningful one, surrounded by the ScrappyShak community in Helen, Georgia.
